Lady Bobcats Fall out of National Ranking After 0-3 Loss at #19 Catawba

The Bryant & Stratton Lady Bobcats have entered the toughest stretch of their schedule as they traveled to play the #19 Catawba Valley Red Hawks and would lose the series 0-3.

Game 1

Bryant & Stratton Bobcats stayed in it until the end, but the RedHawks  pulled away late in a 2-3 loss in game 1
The Bobcats were up 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning when a homer to left field, scored two runs for the RedHawks.
The pitching was strong on both sides. The RedHawks got on the board first in the second inning.

In the top of the sixth inning, the Bobcats went back into the lead after #12 Chloe Gust doubled, and #99 Tanisha Halvorson singled, each scoring one run.
#4 Shayla Hurley, #12 Gust, and #99 Halvorson each collected one hit for Bobcats. #12 Gust and #99 Halvorson were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for the Bobcats.
#12 Gust stole two bases and the team stole three bases in the game. The Bobcats were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error, #2 Cynthia Alvillar made the most plays with five. #12 Gust stepped in the circle first for the Bobcats allowing seven hits and three runs over six innings, striking out two and walking one.

Game 2

The Bobcats fell 4-12 to the RedHawks despite out-hitting them 7-5 and leading in the game 4-0 in game 2.
The Bobcats were the first to get on the board in the first when #12 Gust singled, scoring one run.
#99 Tanisha Halvorson homered to center field, scoring three runs in the top of the third to push the lead to 4-0 but in the bottom of the 3rd, the RedHawks would tie things up. It was then in the fifth inning the Redhawks would put up 8 runs and things would get out of reach for the Bobcats.
#12 Chloe Gust led the Bobcats with two hits, #99 Halvorson drove the middle of the lineup, leading the team with three RBIs, the third baseman went 1-for-2 on the day. #18 Abigail Epperson started in the circle for the Bobcats allowing 5 hits and 12 runs (one earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking six. 

Game 3

#12 Chloe Gust hit two home runs and drove in two, but the Bobcats lost to the RedHawks 7-8 in game 3.
The Bobcats opened the scoring in the first after an error scored two runs.
#12 Gust hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the third.
The RedHawks made the score 4-3 in the bottom of the third after #7 Maddie McDowell induced a fielder's choice, but one run scored, followed by a homer to center field, scoring three runs.
The Bobcats fell behind by five runs in the fourth inning, but then tried to fight back and closed the gap by scoring on a home run by  #22 Kiara Selby homered to left field, scoring three runs and a solo home run by #12 Gust. #22 Selby led the team with 3 RBIs going 1-for-4 on the day. The Bobcats didn't commit a single error in the field and #2 Cynthia Alvillar had the most chances in the field with six.
#7 McDowell started the game for the Bobcats allowing five hits and seven runs over three and one-third innings, striking out one and walking three.

Things wont get easier for the Bobcats as next week they will travel to the #3 Louisburg Hurricanes for a mid week series.
