The Bryant and Stratton Bobcats were on the road Friday against the Caldwell Cobras before returning home to face off against the Chesapeake College Shipjacks on Sunday.
Caldwell Game 1
The Bobcats were the first to get on the board in the second when #99 Tanisha Halvorson tripled, scoring one run. A homer by the Cobras would tie the game at one in the bottom of the second. A home run to left field by #22 Kiara Selby gave the Bobcats the lead 4-1, in the top of the third. The Cobras would then take back the lead in the botom of the third as a result of a two doubles and a single that brought in a total of four runs.
The Bobcats flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs on six hits to take a 9-5 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by #22 Selby that drove in two. #22 Selby hit two home runs and drove in six as the Bobcats defeated the Cobras 15-8 in game 1.
#12 Chloe Gust led things off in the circle surrendering seven hits and six runs over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking two. #7 Maddie McDowell pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief for Bryant & Stratton Bobcats. The righty allowed eight hits and two runs while, striking out five and walking two.
The Bobcats collected 14 hits in the game. #20 Vivia Ma made the most of her chances at the plate, the number nine hitter led the team with three hits in four at bats. #37 Kallie McNeely and #99 Halvorson each collected multiple hits for the Bobcats, while #4 Shayla Hurley and #12 Gust each stole multiple bases. The Bobcats worked the count all day, accumulating five walks and wild on the base paths, tallying six stolen bases for the game.
Caldwell Game 2
The Bobcats got on the board in the first inning after Tanisha Halvorson drew a walk, scoring one run. The Cobras would tie the game at one in the bottom of the first and then a grand slam to left field by the Cobras pushes the lead up to 5-1, in the bottom of the second.
The Cobras than added on three runs in the bottom of the fourth on a home run to center field which would put things out of reach as the Bobcats couldn't keep up with Cobras and fell 1-8 in game 2.
#18 Abigail Epperson stepped in the circle first giving up six hits and eight runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking three, she surrendered five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out three and walking four. #99 Halvorson led the team with one RBI. #22 Kiara Selby led the Bobcats with two hits in three at bats. The team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying four walks for the game and were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error, #1 Bella Wren had the most chances in the field with eight.
Chesapeake Game 1
The Skipjacks were the first to get on the board in the first from a solo home run to left field.
The Bobcats responded by scoring five runs on three hits to take a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the first, the biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by #22 Kiara Selby that drove in two. After shutting the Cobras out in the second inning, the Bobcats followed up by scoring five runs on four hits in the bottom of the second inning. An error scored one run, #12 Chloe Gust singled, scoring two runs, #12 Gust scored after tagging up, and #99 Tanisha Halvorson scored after tagging up.
#12 Gust led things off in the circle giving up six hits and three runs over three innings, striking out five and walking none. #7 Maddie McDowell threw two innings of shutout ball for the Bobcats in relief, the right-handed pitcher allowed three hits, striking out one and walking one as the Bobcats won big over the Skipjacks 11-3 in game 1.
#22 Selby drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Bobcats with three RBIs going 1-for-3 on the day. #4 Shayla Hurley and #12 Gust each collected two hits for the Bobcats. #12 Gust stole three bases and the team stole seven bases in the game. The Bobcats also turned one double play in the game.
Chesapeake Game 2
The Skipjacks opened the scoring in the first after a homer to right field, scored three runs. The Bobcats jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when #12 Chloe Gust singled, scoring one run, #1 Bella Wren doubled, scoring two runs, and #13 Anaya Jones singled, scoring one run.
The Bobcats added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after #4 Shayla Hurley grounded out, and #12 Gust tripled, each scoring one run, followed by one run in the third after #2 Cynthia Alvillar doubled. #22 Kiara Selby collected three hits in four at bats, as the Bobcats defeated the Skipjacks 11-3 in game 2.
