The Bryant & Stratton Lady Bobcats were on the road for back-to-back games facing off against conference foes in the Brunswick Dolphins & the Cape Fear Sea Devils.
In game one vs. the Dolphins the teams would have a competitive first quarter, trading baskets as the Bobcats would take a three-point lead heading into the second quarter. The Bobcats started the second quarter with a full-court press that proved to be problematic for the Dolphins as were held to just five points in the quarter to the Bobcats 20 points which would effectively put this one away. The Bobcats would continue to pour it on having their way with everything falling as they would coast to victory 83-43,
The Bobcats were led by Rakyla Jones with 10pts, 10stl, 10ast & 6 rebs, her first triple-double of the season, and Shakerra Reddicks with 11pts, 10rebs, her 4th consecutive double-double. As a team the Bobcats shot 58% from fg, 35% from 3pt, & 64% from the line leading them to the win.
Game two on the road against the Sea Devils was expected to be a tough battle as these teams met multiple times last season with the Bobcats defeating the Sea Devils in the conference championship.
The first half and truly the second quarter would be the determining factor in this one as the Sea Devils would cling to an early five-point lead at the end of the first and then hold the Bobcats to their worst quarter of the season in the second scoring just five points. The Bobcats would turn it on offensively and have a great third quarter to outscore the Sea Devils and would outscore them in the fourth but it would be too little too late as the comeback would fall short & the Bobcats would take their first loss of the season.
The team was led by Yvette Sandifer who finished with 15pts, 5ast, 5stl, 5reb & Hailey Harris with 12pts, 2blks (team-high). Overall the Bobcats shot under 30% from both fg & 3pt as well as just 56% from the free throw line which led to their downfall.
