The Bryant & Stratton College Lady Bobcats rallied from a slow start to defeat the Miami Dade College Sharks 77-75 in a thrilling contest.
The Sharks built a strong 11-21 lead after the first quarter, but the Bobcats surged in the second, outscoring the Sharks 25-18 to close the gap. The Bobcats continued their momentum in the third, leading 28-16, and held off a late Sharks push in the fourth to secure the win. A strong Bobcats defensive effort and hot shooting from beyond the arc (38.1%) proved crucial in the comeback victory.
Hailey Harris led Bryant & Stratton with a game-high 20 points, while Yvette Sandifer added 14 and Rakyla Jones contributed her 2nd triple-double of the season with 11 points, 10 assists, and 12 rebounds.
In a hard-fought battle that extended into overtime, the Palm Beach State College Panthers edged out the Bryant & Stratton College Lady Bobcats 63-66 on day two of the tournament.
After a tight first half, where the Bobcats held a narrow 29-25 lead, the Panthers surged in the second quarter to take a four-point advantage heading into the final frame. In the overtime period, the Panthers free throw shooting (88.9%) made the difference. Despite shooting a remarkable 56.8% from the field, the Bobcats couldn't overcome the Panthers, who finished with a 35.4% shooting efficiency but capitalized on their (16-18) free throw performance to win the game.
Despite a strong effort by the Bobcats, led by Rakyla Jones' 19 points and Shakerra Reddicks' 16 points and 13 rebounds (10th double-double of the season), the Panthers managed to hang on for the win.
Up next for the Bobcats, they will return home to play host a back-to-back opponents in rival Cape Fear Community College followed by Mongomery College next Sunday & Monday.
